Trip Cup helps golf trip captains organize Ryder Cup-style weekends, collect live scores, show leaderboards, and publish recaps. This Privacy Policy explains how Trip Cup collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our website, app, and related services.
Information We Collect
- Captain account information, such as name, email address, login method, and account profile details.
- Trip setup information entered by captains, including trip names, dates, teams, player names, handicap indexes, courses, tee times, formats, pairings, house rules, and recap content.
- Participant scoring information, including selected player identity, match participation, gross scores, putts, lost balls, hole results, and score edit history.
- Participant access information, such as trip join links, shared trip codes, player PIN status, signed session cookies, and limited security data used to prevent unauthorized access.
- Payment and subscription information needed to unlock paid plans. Payments are processed by Stripe; Trip Cup does not store full payment card numbers.
- Usage, device, and diagnostic information, including page views, product events, browser details, approximate location derived from technical data, and runtime errors collected through analytics and error tracking tools.
How We Use Information
- To create and manage captain accounts, authenticate users, and protect account access.
- To run Trip Cup features, including trip setup, roster management, handicap calculations, live scoring, standings, house rules, recap pages, scoreboard images, and PDF exports.
- To let participants join a trip, enter scores, view leaderboards, and access trip materials without creating a full account.
- To process purchases, manage subscriptions, prevent fraud, and provide customer support.
- To monitor reliability, troubleshoot bugs, understand feature usage, improve the product, and prepare for public launch.
- To communicate with captains about their account, payments, security, product updates, and support requests.
How Information Is Shared
- With people who have access to the same trip, such as captains and participants, so the group can see rosters, teams, matchups, scores, standings, rules, and recap content.
- With service providers that help operate Trip Cup, including Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and realtime services; Stripe for payments; PostHog for product analytics and error tracking; and hosting or email providers used to run the service.
- When required by law, legal process, or a good-faith need to protect Trip Cup, our users, or the public.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, provided the recipient continues to protect personal information consistently with this policy.
Trip Links, Leaderboards, and Recaps
- Trip Cup is built around shareable trip links. Anyone with an active trip link, leaderboard link, or recap link may be able to view trip information made available through that link.
- Captains are responsible for choosing what they enter into player names, house rules, awards, and recap content, and for sharing trip links only with the intended audience.
- Participants should not enter sensitive personal information into score fields, house rules, or recap content.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
- We use cookies and similar technologies to keep captains signed in, remember participant sessions, protect access to trips, measure product usage, and diagnose errors.
- Some cookies are required for the service to work. Analytics cookies help us understand and improve Trip Cup.
Data Retention
- We keep account, trip, scoring, payment, support, and diagnostic information for as long as needed to provide Trip Cup, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain accurate business records.
- Captains may ask us to delete account or trip data, subject to legal, security, payment, backup, and operational retention needs.
Security
- We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, access controls, row-level database protections, signed participant sessions, hashed player PINs, and limited service-role access.
- No online service can guarantee absolute security. Please use strong account credentials and share trip links carefully.
Your Choices
- Captains can update many trip, roster, rules, and recap details from their account.
- You may request access, correction, deletion, or export of personal information by contacting us.
- You can adjust browser settings to limit cookies, though some parts of Trip Cup may stop working properly.
- You can unsubscribe from non-essential marketing emails, but we may still send transactional or security messages.
Children
- Trip Cup is intended for golf trip organizers and participants and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
- We may update this Privacy Policy as Trip Cup evolves. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as updating this page, changing the effective date, or sending an account notice.
